Mildew, mold and fungus are caused by two things: heat and moisture. Needless to say, we have plenty of both in our beautiful Florida climate. However, we must destroy the unsightly algae to solve the problem, before it causes damage to our health and property.

You can remove the unwanted algae by doing one of two things. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, you can apply chemicals obtainable from a local pool supply company, or better yet call a professional to supply the labor and material to do the job.

An alga that is affecting areas at ground level, such as pool decks, patios, sidewalks and other easy to get to areas are less trouble to clean than other harder to get to places like walls, soffits and fascia.

Roofs are the hardest to clean. Just a little note on roof cleaning, the best way to clean and to keep your roof clean is with a cleaning agent applied by a professional roof cleaning operator... not by pressure washing.

Pressure washing can, and will, cause damage to asphalt shingles by dislodging the roofing surface. On barrel or flat cement tile you must walk on almost every foot of the roof to clean with a power washer. Walking on tile roofs can break tiles.
